Thomas’s Kensington’s New Home at 1 St Albans Grove

As a community, we opened our new, state-of-the-art campus at 1 St Albans Grove (W8 5PN) in November 2025, realising a long-held dream to unite our community into one beautiful educational environment.  

Thomas’s took ownership of what were Atlantic House and Lytham House on St Albans Grove, Kensington in 2023. The buildings underwent a full refurbishment, transforming into a state-of-the-art purpose-built educational facility, featuring 23 age-appropriate classrooms, a theatre, specialist music, art and pottery studios, a gym, a landscaped rooftop and large outdoor play area. The building has been constructed to BREEAM ‘Very Good/Excellent’ standards, reflecting strong environmental performance in areas such as energy use, materials, ventilation and overall sustainability.

Upon completion, Thomas’s transitioned from its long-standing premises on Victoria Road and Cottesmore Gardens, which had served as educational sites since 1870. 

It was no mean feat moving the whole school during the Michaelmas half term, but it went very smoothly thanks to the generosity of our community. The staff, in particular, showed exceptional teamwork; their energy, flexibility, and commitment made the move possible, from packing and planning to preparing all the little details. Our operations and site teams worked tirelessly behind the scenes (including over the weekend), as did teachers and support staff preparing new spaces with care, and parents offering patience and encouragement throughout. And at the centre of it all are, of course, the children – whose excitement and optimism remind us exactly why this new home matters so much. 

Our new home on St Albans Grove was christened very well indeed, with a special day planned for the children, including tours, time outside and their own chosen celebration lunch. The feedback from the children over the last two terms has been overwhelmingly positive, they genuinely love it. We are so pleased to see them thriving in their new environment. Parents were also welcomed in for afternoon tours of the school during our first week. The feeling within our community is one of pride and anticipation for the future. The building is everything we hoped it would be: light-filled, purposeful and being brought to life with curiosity, friendship and learning every day.
